Metal and Stained Glass Classes & Workshops
Thursdays 6:30–9:30pm Members $300, Non-members $330 This class will focus on the acquisition of jewelry skills and techniques, while learning the art of fine craftsmanship. Each student will complete a series of practice pieces before designing and creating a wearable, finished piece of jewelry. Each week there will be several demonstrations including sawing, drilling, piercing, annealing, forming, and soldering. For the first half of the course, students will focus on learning to cut, shape, and form metal wire and sheet, with an emphasis on soldering. During the second half, students will concentrate on design and careful completion of a final project that will incorporate many of the techniques used in class. All skill abilities are welcome in this class, with the understanding that the instructor will try to accommodate each person and their particular needs and interests. The instructor and students will collectively decide, based on the experience and interest of the students, which specific techniques will be covered in class. |
