REGISTER NOW Member Registration / Non-Member Registration
Instructor: Mike Glod
10 Weeks, Tuesdays, 6:30 -9:30pm, 1/17-3/20
Members $330, Non-members $375, Materials: $80
*First class takes place at 5:15 at North End Hardwoods in Williston
In this step-by-step class, students learn as they work through an organized approach to woodworking. Starting at the lumberyard, you will work with the instructor to select lumber with an eye for matching grain and avoiding problematic pieces. Back at our wood studio, you will be introduced to one to two new machines to keep the work environment safe and underwhelming. After initial milling, we will work with hand tools to shape and refine our pieces before final finishing. Our goal is for each student to complete an end table project during the 10-week session.

Intermediate/Independent Woodworking
REGISTER NOW Member Registration / Non-Member Registration
Instructor: Jeremy Warms
8 Weeks, Wednesdays, 6-9pm, 1/11-2/29
Members $280, Non-members $330, Materials: $80
For students with previous woodworking experience we offer the chance to design and build a custom piece of furniture. Students will draw on the instructor’s experience to design chairs, dressers, beds or desks. Projects usually evolve from a personal furniture need or a new skill the student seeks to master under the instructor’s guidance. We see a wide variety of projects in this class and we encourage students to contact the instructor ahead of time if they have questions about potential projects. A few e-mails or phone calls in advance of the semester will usually clarify the project enough to allow for lumber to be bought before the first class.

Dovetails – Box with Lid
REGISTER NOW Member Registration / Non-Member Registration
Instructor: Jeremy Warms
4 Weeks, Mondays, 6-9pm, 1/30-2/20
Members $140, Non-Members $155, Materials: $40
This four week course students will tackle the layout, and execution of dovetails. Noted for its resistance for its tensile strength, the dovetail joint is commonly used to join the sides of a drawer to the front. A series of pins cut to extend from the end of one board interlock with a series of tails cut into the end of another board. The pins and tails have a trapezoidal shape. Once glued, a wooden dovetail joint requires no mechanical fasteners. Joinery samples will lead students into the class project: making a small dovetail-joined box with a sliding lid. This is an intermediate level course.

Introductory Shaker Table

Instructor: Ben Shafer-Rickles
5 Weeks, Mondays, 6-9pm, 2/27-3/26

This class is directed toward students who are eager to become acquainted with a wood shop environment, want to familiarize themselves with building plans, and enhance their joinery skills. Students begin with rough lumber to complete a hallway table Shaker-style. Over the course of the class participants mill, cut, join, and finish their table using comprehensive building plans. The purpose is to develop experiential and procedural skills so students can learn how to build creatively afterward. No prior experience is necessary. Materials students need to bring are: standard combination square, orbital sander, 1/4″ and 1/8″ chisels, tape measure, mortising gauge or wheel marking gauge, and pencil.
