Paint, Paper, and Clay
9:00am-4:00pm

Handbuilding with Clay: Campers
will learn about the three phases of the clay process: building,
firing and glazing. Using the basic methods of hand building (coil,
pinch, and slab), kids will create pots, mini-tea sets, slab boxes,
and ceramic rattles. Campers can then use their new skills to
produce a variety of other project or gifts.
Painting and Printmaking: Using a variety of
sources including still life, photographs, and nature, campers
will explore the difference between acrylics, water based oils,
and watercolors. Kids will experiment with an assortment of painting
and printmaking techniques and create several paintings on canvas
and a variety prints on paper.

Fabric Creations and
Handbuilding with Clay
9:00am-4:00pm
|
Fabric Creations: Using a variety of fabrics
and decorations, designs, cut and sew your own handbag. Experiment
with tie-dying and batik (a wax-resist dyeing technique). Campers
will learn the basics of sewing and will plan a project from start
to finish.

Mosaic and Handbuilding with Clay
9:00am-4:00pm
|
Mosaic: Campers will learn the basics of
mosaics such as tile preparation, grout mixtures, and even a bit
of history of the mosaic. Each child will have a choice about
what they produce and will leave proud of their work and new artistic
skills. Table tops, planters, and garden stones are among the
possibilities for a final project.

Let’s Learn Digital Photography
9:00am-4:00pm
|
Learn the basics of digital photography. Campers will spend
the first part of each day at a different outdoor site taking
photos. After lunch, each camper will work on a computer at Shelburne
Community School learning how Photoshop Elements can create different
photographic effects. Discover how to add texture, adjust color,
and create collages. Kids should bring their own digital camera
and USB cords for downloading their images. Campers should be
comfortable with their digital camera and on the computer. |
| Aug. 3-7 |
Inspired Sculpture and Handbuilding with Clay
9:00am-4:00pm |
Inspired Sculpture: Students will create
wonderful and whimsical works of art using a wide variety of materials
such as foam, hot glue, plaster, clay, papier-mâché,
wood, paints and more. Children will experiment with different
techniques, dimensions, and colors. Each child will have the opportunity
to create several small scale sculptures as well as a large group
sculpture. At the end of the week we will display our artistic
creations in our very own mini sculpture garden. Campers will
draw inspiration from famous sculptures like Alexandra Calder
and Henry Moore. Discover what how exciting sculpture can be!
