Woodworking for Beginners: Serve
dinner or mix up cookies with your own hand made Spoon! Campers
will learn how to safely use hand tools to produce one to two
wooden spoons. Students will also learn about trees, different
wood grains, and how lumber is produced. Discover how excititing
wood working can be!
Clay on the Wheel: Learn the essentials
of working on the potter’s wheel from centering to forming
cylinders and bowls. Students will create a variety of forms including
bowls, mugs, pitchers, plates, and vases as they improver their
wheel throwing skills.

Creative Metal Arts

Clay on the Wheel: See above description.
Creative Metal Arts: Create amazing works of
wearable art while learning basic metal smithing skills. Using
a torch and a hammer you will learn to soften and shape brass,
bronze, copper, and nickel silver sheet metal. Learn to drill,
saw, file, form, sand, and polish. Use wire to make chain and
simple clasps and leather cord and beads to embellish your creations.
(Additional fee for sterling silver.)

Digital Photography & Photoshop Elements

Students will spend the first half of each day at a different
outdoor site (weather permitting) taking photos. After lunch,
each student will work on a computer at Shelburne Community School
learning how to use Photoshop Elements to create different photo
effects. Students will depart with a photographic series, new
skills, and new compositional considerations. Students should
bring their own digital camera and USB cord for downloading their
images.

Painting Exploration and
Clay on the Wheel

Painting Exploration: Campers will be introduced
to various painting techniques, materials, and styles. Using a
variety of sources including objects from nature and photographs,
kids will explore the differences among acrylics, water-based
oils, watercolor, and learn painting techniques such as under
painting and toning canvas. Kids will produce finished paintings
drawing inspiration from famous artists like Vincent Van Gogh
and Claude Monet.

Advanced Photoshop Elements
9:00am-4:00pm |
Kids will build on skill taught is our Digital Photography
& Photoshop Elements class. Campers will gain a new perspective
in how layers and the entire tool selection in Photoshop Elements
can enhance their photographs. Kids will take photographs outdoors
and work on the computer at Shelburne Community School. Kids should
be comfortable with their digital camera and on the computer.
Kids will bring their own digital camera and USB cord for downloading
their images.
Required Skills: An understanding of layers,
masks, levels, colorizing techniques and text effects.

Advanced Metal Arts

Advanced Metal Arts: Build on the skills
learned in our Metal Arts class. Students will learn basic soldering
skills and discover how to apply textures and patinas. Children
will use various metals including sterling silver to craft projects
such as rings, bracelet, and necklaces. (Additional fee for sterling
silver.)
