Wood Classes
Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 6–7, 9:00am–4:00pm Moving from the straight and square to using curves in your work poses new challenges—and many aesthetic rewards. The emphasis of this workshop will be on designing, making, and integrating curves with special emphasis on chairs. How do woodworkers design pleasing curved shapes, loft them full size, make patterns, and then go about making the parts? This workshop will explore and demonstrate three common methods: steam bending, laminating, and cutting parts out of solid stock. Students will learn how to then work with these curved elements to create strong joints and attractive transitions. |
